Good Friday Thoughts – April 2020

Good Friday is coming…….Father Forgive,

“Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.”

Jesus said those words in Luke 23:33-34, he said those words as he hung on the cross.

These words were  actually a prayer…a very short prayer and a very pointed, very specific prayer.

He didn’t speak these words to his Mom, or his disciples, not to the people standing by, not to the soldiers. He spoke them to His Father.

“Father.”  In one word it sums up his relationship with God – No one can use this term exactly like Jesus used it.

In the book of John Chapter 10 Jesus says:”I and the Father are one.”

I like the fact that we can call God Father also?

This short prayer was about a relationship. This short prayer was about, trust and hope.

This short prayer was about faith. This short prayer was to the one who would walk with him, through the valley of shadow of death.

This short prayer was a prayer of IDENTIFICATION.

This short Prayer is also a prayer of  UNAWARENESS

“Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.”

This short Prayer is also a Prayer of COMPLETENESS

Jesus completed the work he came to do. With the help of our Father we can continue with the work he has called us to do. We are not alone in this journey, as with Jesus our Father is with us.

“Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.”  Luke 23:34a
